Pima County Assessor

bill.gifBill Staples (D) is currently the Pima County Assessor. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio he ventured out west for “inexpensive schooling” and graduated from the University of Arizona. Staples has been in office since January ’05. The budget of the office of the Pima County Assessor is $9 million for the 2007-08 year. There are about 150 people who work for the assessor.

The assessor determines full or partial value of new construction or improvements each year as well as property within their jurisdiction. The Pima County Assessor serves four year terms and elections will be held November ’08. His office is located at 115 N. Church Ave.

Some issues that concern the Pima County Assessor involve litigation, public education and property value. Property notices were just sent out Wednesday to the 400,000 property owners in Tucson. These notices are sent out annually to property owners all over over the world.
